CEO Welcome

I'm delighted to extend a warm welcome to all visitors of Community Development Chesterfield (CDC). I'm extremely proud to be a part of a small but amazing team making such a big difference to the community of Chesterfield!

A bit about me...

My background is, believe it or not, in Information Technology. I began my career in 2016 at a local, small Chesterfield school who supported me on an apprenticeship to gain my Level 3 IT Professional qualification. During my time at the school I was lucky enough to experience three roles. The first was IT Specialist, then Student Support Officer and finally Teaching and Learning Assistant. From here, I was offered an amazing opportunity that was just too good to turn down, a degree apprenticeship in IT. During the degree, sadly my health took a turn for the worse and it caused me to have to take a step back from work and the degree to focus on getting fit and well again.

In the summer of 2023, I was introduced to a local community group who were striving to make a difference within the younger community of Chesterfield. I instantly fell in love with the ethos and values of this group and jumped right in and began volunteering. After a few weeks of getting familiar with the groups running's, I brought my partner on board. Grace has always had a strong passion for working with children and improving community areas. Everything slotted in perfect and we both helped grow the group. After a few months of vital development and many learning curves, we asked for operational ownership of the group to be handed over to us...

Ownership was granted and we spent many days, weeks and months in developing a business plan and charity application! From this Community Development Chesterfield was founded by Grace Wright (our Director) and myself in January 2024. 

​

Our charity is fully inclusive and focuses on providing a warm, safe and healthy environment for all. All our staff are highly trained and we will provide you with the best support we can. We work extremely hard to ensure we challenge and support our community. We do this to enable each person to gain the best experience they can from what we offer.

I'm extremely honoured to be leading this charity into its next chapter.
