Community Development Chesterfield (CDC) operates as a registered charity under the official registration number 1206790. Initially established as a community initiative named Rother Active Youth (RAY Club) in 2014, the organization was founded by Cllr Jenny Flood from the Rother Ward. In the summer of 2023, the ownership of the RAY Club transitioned to Dan and Grace, a dynamic young couple newly settled in the area. Eager to expand the club's reach and transform it into a full-fledged youth organization, the couple embarked on this ambitious journey. By October 2023, they initiated the charity application process with a vision to broaden the club's outreach to the entire Chesterfield community, encompassing all age groups.

In February 2024, this vision materialized as the club officially evolved into a registered charity known as Community Development Chesterfield. Subsequently, Dan and Grace assumed the role of leaseholders for the CDC Cosy Hub located at S402SW, serving as the organization's primary office.

Under the umbrella of CDC, various initiatives operate, including the Cosy Cubs Toddler Group, Youth provisions, CDC Walton Knitters, and CDC Community Coffee Morning and now Tupton Foodbank, fostering mutual support between the organizations.

The board of trustees guiding CDC comprises four dedicated individuals:

  • Grace Wright (Finance) - Director CDC Group and Trustee

  • Jenny Flood (Cllr) - Trustee

  • Sylvia Tidmarsh - Trustee
